BACKGROUND
(this is hastily written and will be revised later)
his teenage story more in depth coming soon
Monte's father, a fairly famous musician, died when he was four, leaving his mom with a fortune to her name. despite living in a nice home in California, his mother sold the house and moved back to her small rural hometown in Wisconsin.
they moved in with Monte's uncle in a trailer park, until his mom found and bought her own house (which wasn't for about two years). Monte's uncle was a horrible person, he abused Monte the entire two years, leaving the boy with severe trauma. only after his mother and his uncle get in a fight over money, does she remove herself and Monte from his home. even though she was well aware of the abuse Monte was enduring.
Monte's mother starts to abuse and manipulate him as soon as he turns 12. she is absent most of the time and when she is around she does nothing but hurt him. she often brings home different boyfriends who don't treat Monte any better. he puts up with this until she kicks him out of the house after she finds out he's gay.
he lives with Jamie for about a year until they get into a fight and he is forced back into his mother's home. during this time he is shot in the eye by one of the boys in his town, it is useless for the rest of his life. he ends up in the hospital for a couple weeks. after getting released from the hospital his mother screams at him because of the medical bill, later that night she overdoses.
after his 19th birthday Monte abruptly leaves his small hometown in Wisconsin after his mother overdoses and dies. he spends the next two years living in his car and surviving off of what was left of his late father's fortune. eventually, after crossing the last thing off his bucket list, he makes his way back to his birth town in California, where he plans to end his life.
he stalls for a while, afraid to go through with it. during his time in cali he frequents a cafe that his dad brought him to many times as a child. this happens to be the same cafe Morgahn works at. they eventually become friends, Monte starts going to cafe just to visit his new friend. eventually Monte opens up to being homeless and living in his truck. Morgahn tells him of a house for rent nearby, he even knows the person living next door!
Monte doesn't hesitate to move into the small house, he quickly befriends Poppy, the aforementioned neighbor. their relationship consists of smoking weed together and doing other illegal shit. neither confesses to their real feelings for each other for a long while.
